The second day of the first World Congress of People with Disabilities brought new developments. Today, September 8, master classes have been started. They are led by both Russian and foreign delegates of the congress. One of the sites for conducting master classes is the Regional Rehabilitation Center For Disabled.
Do you know how to cook a real Viennese apple strudel? Now we know how. Under the leadership of the true Viennese hostess, the organizer of the 5th European Congress for People with Disabilities Renate Hwatal, the delegates of the international event created a national fragrant treat. They learned how to cut apples properly, prepare the filling, and knead the dough correctly. For example, to get the right consistency, the dough must be thrown to the table several times before rolling.
The immersion in the Austrian atmosphere would not be complete if the creation of the culinary masterpiece was not accompanied by Viennese music.
Apple strudel is the most common pie in Vienna. This pastry came to Austria more than 300 years ago thanks to the soldiers of the Ottoman Empire. Strudel is easy to carry in your pocket and it is stored for a long time. According to Renate Hwatal, now apple strudel can be found in almost every house and every cafe in Austria. The Viennese guest notes, especially it's delicious when it's fresh.
One more master class created collages of tissue-paper. There is no right or wrong, good or bad. Only feelings are important here. And so it is available to everyone. The hostess of the master class, Dutchwoman Françoise Walter, admitted that she had been thinking for two months about what kind of interesting creative craft she could teach people with different physical limitations.
To create a collage of tissue paper, you only need a brush, glue, colored paper and a plastic base. Then you need to include the imagination and apply pieces of paper of different colors to each other, getting new interesting shades. The ultimate work is always a surprise. After drying, the plastic is removed and only the paper itself remains, which is especially interesting when viewing it in the light, for example, through a window.
Tomorrow, September 9, the master classes will continue their work. In the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Disabled, we will be able to observe sword fighting, visit the club of blind cooks, look into the room where people will create a logotype reflecting the slogan of the Congress «See the value of everyone».
